Ted Cover of the Suncoast Chapter National Railway Historical Society will be the
presenter. Following this presentation, VAHS "historical interpreters" dressed as
Bertha Palmer will tell some anecdotes about her life. Interpreters are: Sue Chapman, Betty Intagliata, and Claire Suter.

The Venice Area Historical Society is pleased to announce its series of lectures for
the 2011 season. These lectures are funded by the Florida Humanities Council through a grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities. (NEH). The central theme is:
FLORIDA: SURVIVAL OF THE GREAT DEPRESSION/IMPACT OF NEW DEAL PROGRAMS THEN AND NOW. Any views, findings, conclusions, or recommendations expressed in these programs do not
necessarily represent those of the Florida Humanities Council or the National Endowment for the Humanities.

Our Summer hours schedule (May-October)
includes tours with trained docents on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
with the last tour at 12:30 p.m.
Our Fall/Winter/Spring schedule includes tours with our trained docents on
Monday/Wednesday/Friday from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM with the last tour
beginning at 2:30 PM. For groups of ten or more, please call for
advanced reservations at (941) 232-6797 or our VAHS office at (941)
412-0151. All tours are free of charge by trained Depot Docents
however, donations are welcomed. If any member of the public has any
railroad memorabilia connected with the Venice Train Depot or Seaboard
Airline Railway in Venice, call (941) 232-6797.

The Red Caboose Historic Venice Train Depot
VILLAGE ON THE ISLE
Village on the Isle is Venice’s only faith-based, not for profit continuing care retirement community. Village on the Isle has 210 residential homes in Matthew and Trinity Halls.
